1998 ford contour automatic transmission fluid extended question?

hey guys, thanks for your input on the question i asked about changing auto tranny fluid on this particular car. one of you mentioned that i should have the bands adjusted while im replacing the ATF. i was thinking of this too, but i never found anything in the haynes repair manual that had instructions of how to readjust the bands in the ford contours automatic transmissions. i know exactly how to do it, but there doesnt even seam to be any adjustable locknuts or anything to make the adjustment to the bands. so, are the bands adjustable on these cars or their transmissions? if so, how do you access the adjusters?

I had Aamco do this. The power purge was about $100, and the bands adjustment was under $100, I think.

You said you have haynes manuals to help, maybe try Chilton’s manuals if the haynes does not cover it. I would try a big auto parts store with the manuals. That way some are open and you can see if it helps or does not. If they do not help, then do not waste the $20.
