Can a mechanic shop be obligated to pay for damages?

I wanted to know if I can get reimbursed for damages from a tire that came off while driving? I purchased used tires from a local mechanic shop and 2 days later while driving on a mini road trip one of the tires came off. I had to pay over $400!! The damages were only about $80 to repair but I had to pay $200 for a tow truck to hook up the car and tow it to the nearest auto body shop (which was closed) and from there I took a $80 cab ride to my hotel (tow was offering to take me but because they charge per mile the cab ride was cheaper) and then $80 back to the auto shop when they reopened the next day. I have pictures of the tire detached from the car on the highway and also saved all my receipts from the tow and shop (I even ask for a police report when the officer arrived to help direct traffic, but he was unable to provide one) How do I go about getting reimbursed? I am afraid the shop will tell me they are not responsible and tell me no.

any help is appreciated. thanks.

If 2 hours later , they can be held liable. 2 days later , not liable. Always check your car before it leaves a mechanics shop. I learned the hard way myself. Good Luck
