how to repair the auto shutdown pc?

im using the window 98. the problem is the pc auto shutdown when it view desktop. and it keep rollin like that again and again..
please help… :-)

It might be that you have a corrupt desktop dlls. Or a probably malware infection.

If you recently did an anti-virus/anti-spyware scan and nothing was found, then you might have a corrupt display drivers. To eliminate the malware infection, update your anti-virus and anti-spyware definition files then try to login Windows 98 in Safe Mode. Reboot then press F8. Login to Safe Mode. Do the anti-virus/anti-spyware scan in Safe Mode.

Also in SAFE MODE, if Windows 98 was installed using a CDROM, insert your Win98CDROM. Open a command prompt window, then issue the following command in C:

c:sfc /scannow

press Enter. This would check all protected system files and replaces versions with correct MS versions.

If all these attempts fail, copy the contents of your My Documents and WindowsSystem32 folders to another location. Try reinstalling Windows 98 over the existing installation. After reinstalling the OS, you might also have to reinstall all other application which drivers were overwritten by the re-installation.
