Auto Repair School Ny

Would auto insurance cover a car being hit by a meteorite?
In 1992 in Peekskill, NY, fans at a high school football game noticed a fireball streaking through the sky, and was captured on film in 16 different cameras. It ended up smashing the trunk of a car nearby. I was just wondering, if the owner had auto insurance, would he get the money to repair his car?
It actually would be covered under Comprehensive as it was a free falling object that hit the vehicle. But one would have had to opt for that under their policy. It is NOT part of the mandatory coverage one is required to carry for the state.
If only liabitly, then there would be no coverage.
