Auto Repair Estimates
Collision/auto repair & what are my rights in the state of Georgia?
Well not my rights, but my mother in laws. She was driving and ran off the road and blew out both right tires. It was late at night and she was a few miles from a family members house so she drove the car to their house.
The next day she was able to get two tires on the car and drove it home but did say that the car pulled to the left a bit. She wants to take it to be looked at and she is covered by Progressive insurance.
Does she have the right to bring it to the repair shop of her choice? (I think the ins co asked for 2 estimates, but will they just pay for the lesser estimate of the 2?)
Does she need more than one estimate?(she drives a Lexus and wants to bring it there but the estimate is a few thousand more than the other no name place. shes not sure she wants to come out of pocket for the difference. will she have to?)
What are her rights?
Her rights are pretty much whatever the insurance company says that they are unless she hires a Lawyer! Will has a very good point in that maybe this is not the best use of her insurance! If she wants to go the insurance route then, for sure one of the estimates should be from a dealer and the other one(or ones) should not be from anyplace known or suspected to be cheap ( save the cheap places if she decides to pay her self) Yes they will go for the lesser of the estimates unless they are really close then they will go with the one that gives them special consideration(prerks)
