free resource for mazda emission control system?
I have a 2001 mazda B-3000 3.0 V-6 check engine light stays on the last diagnostic test I had done at auto parts store said bank (2) too lean does this mean O 2 sensor is bad if so which side is bank (2)? are there any good sites to find info or pic’s from repair manuels? thanks
you most likely have a vacuum leak of some kind. It is only going to benefit you to buy a service manual of some kind or buy a subscription to all data online if you plan on repairing your own vehicle. i am guessing your original code is a p0174 – system lean on bank2. bank 2 is the left side of your engine (driver’s side). It is unlikely you have a bad o2 sensor. listen for any unusual hissing noises while your engine is running. check to make sure all vacuum hoses are secure and not deteriorated. make sure all intake boots and clamps are tight.
the code is suggesting that there is air being introduced into the engine after the airflow meter. viewing the pcm data with a graphic scantool will more easily pinpoint the cause of your engine code issues. a quick check is to spray some carb or brake cleaner near the intake manifold and around the vacuum hoses while the engine is running – quick 1-3 second bursts. if your engine bogs down or in anyway exhibits a change in idle behavior while you are spraying the cleaner, then you definitely have a vacuum leak and you just need to locate it.
since i have a factory manual at my disposal i don’t know of any websites that could have free service manual information – but the quick procedure to check for vacuum leaks is free.
