97 silverado fuel system?
Recently replaced fuel the pump on 5.7 L 97 Silverado because I wasn’t getting fuel to the engine, now I’m getting fuel to the engine compartment but none to the cylinders ( I checked the pressure at the pressure check valve in the engine compartment ), the pressure is good but after pulling a couple of spark plugs I found that they were completely dry. Could this be caused by a faulty pressure regulator, or is there something else I’m missing?
Another question that I have is, are there any good auto repair manuals that I could purchase that would help me (trouble shoot) fuel system problems for this vehicle? I have the new Chilton guide but it really doesn’t help much.
Any help would really be appreciated.
carguy, the truck is a CSFI motor, not the TBI…
What is the fuel pressure at the test port?! You should have above 55psi. 60psi is spec.
After verifying the fuel pressure, it could be the pressure regulator. Have you tried pouring a small amount of fuel down the throttle body to get the truck to fire? Have you had any problems or replaced anything on the truck prior to the fuel issue?
If it is a crank/cam position sensor issue you may be able to get the truck to start by holding the throttle wide open, but it doesn’t always work. They you could get the check engine light from the computer throwing a code to determine a faulty sensor.
First, try to get the truck to fire with a little gas down the throttle body.
