Auto Repair Engine Codes
What should it cost to fix my 2000 Dodge Intrepid – lifter problem?
What should I expect to be charged from an auto repair facility – not dealership (in Georgia, if it matters) to have a bad lifter fixed in my 2000 Dodge Intrepid 2.7 liter (engine code “R”)?
Thank you for the information! Wow! I did put my complaint on that web site just now. But, I can not figure out how to join the class action lawsuit. Do you know how I do that?
start pricing another motor.
If you are having lifter noise, thats the oil pump in that motor.
goto..
www.dontbuyone.com and join in on the class action lawsuit against chrysler about that 2.7 litre motor.
You can buy that motor new from Chrylser for $2400.00 they will NOT give a warranty with it though.
I wont go into the 4 page reason why I say this Just goto that website and read it yourself.
That motor has a very tiny hole that the oil pumps through in the front of the motor. That gets clogged and starts oil pressure problems. NONE of those 2.7′s have made it past 80 thousand miles. Most trash out around 35 thousand. You are getting lifter noise because it has an oil pressure problem now. Hey, 100 thousand mechanics cant be wrong, goto that website and see for yourself.
I recommend when you need to replace that motor, have them install a 3.2 or 3.5, only thing that will have to be done extra is the exhaust at the motor and the computer. Which just plugs right in.
Many mechanics know how to do this and most salvage yards know exactly what you need if you tell them you are replacing the 2.7 with something else. this is how major a problem that motor has been.
as you can see by the examples below, its always the slightest amount of sludge that starts all the problems with this motor.
Below are examples of others. read some of them,
