Are GPS device/bug detectors legal?

I would think they are, but I just wanted to make sure before I buy. Someone placed a GPS device on my car, and people are following me. I have to detect it in order to remove it. I went to the police station, and they did a visual inspection. They don’t have a GPS device detector. I also went to an auto repair shop. They were nice enough to raise the vehicle and let me visually inspect, but nothing. These days, the GPS receivers are tiny chips that fit on the tip of your finger and it would be difficult to see. People continue to follow me. This is why I need it. Thanks.

The only way you can legal install a GPS in a car and track its movements, is if you are the owner of the vehicle. So, if someone put one in your car, and their name is not on the title, then yes it is illegal (unless you are married to the person). As far a bug detector, yes they are legal to own, however, they are not a guarantee. Due to the various types of GPS’s, the success rating for the detectors is just over 95%. Still pretty good odds, but do your research before you buy one.
