VW jetta 1991 no heat? Ower only or mechanic?

My husband and i both of us disagree. ok when i turn on heat fan. it make lots noise and cause car motor shaking. also tht temputure of car always below cold. so it almost never go up to warm at all. So does it mean i need to put anti-freeze liquid. but i disagree i think it need repair thermpotare part things. please help me before send to auto repair. I myself know how fix it just want make sure wht it problems.
sorry i am not good with gammer am hard of hearing. well fan is not shaking it motor or something. my husband going to put qnti-freeze liquid see if heat come out or not. maybe theromature( dont know how spell)

a bad thermostat can cause you not to have any heat,and so will it being low on coolant,add too much coolant and it wont heat up good either,you really need to have a shop look at this one,it can be a lot more than what you might think it is,if you get it diagnosed then you,ll know,good luck on it.
